Bishop Allyson Nelson Abrams is a very well educated servant of God. Her Grace has studied with many academicians and theologians from all across the world.
It is known to many that Bishop Allyson Abrams married her best friend in March 2013. Her best friend is female and many people in the religious community have raised questions about her ability to be able to serve as a pastor being that Her Grace is now in a "same gender" marriage.
Bishop Abrams subscribes to the GOOD NEWS. Bishop Abrams and her spouse, Bishop Diana Williams, declare that they are "RED LETTER CHRISTIANS." They both subscribe to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches that ANYONE who believes in Jesus Christ will be accepted into God's realm. You can be a child of God and living in loving committed relationships with persons of the same sex.
Until we know the CONTEXT in which statements in the Bible were made, there is EVERY possibility, we will completely MISUNDERSTAND .....AND MISAPPLY what is said. If we wish to understand the true meaning of the varied verses, we must look at their: CONTEXT (both textual and historical). We must examine what prompted these rules in Old Testament times( we are no longer under Greco-Roman law), understand that they we have been released from the Old Law and given New Law by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Bishop Allyson Abrams believes that with the meanings of words changing over the centuries and understanding the framework and context in which scriptures are said, while taking into account the audiences and situations that were occurring at the time and what was the need that demanded the writer's attention and need to address, as well as the audience who the text was written to and what was the time in which it was written, that homesexuality is NOT a sin. Study of the historic text and contexts has led HER GRACE to conclude that those who are in LOVING committed relationships, not practicing prostitution and selling their bodies are NOT the persons being instructed to leave that lifestyle or who will be turned over by God. Bishop Abrams understands that everyone is not in the same place in their comprehension of the Bible or in their understanding of God and Jesus Christ. GOD IS LOVE and we as Christians are called to LOVE YE ONE ANOTHER. Jesus never addresses the issue of who marriage is between. Jesus simply commands us to Love the Lord thy God with all of thy heart.......... And then he commands us to Love they neighbor as thyself.
Bishop Abrams thanks all of those who have poured into her during this time. All who have sent letters of encouragement and those who disclosed their authentic selves and how they have been blessed by her ministry. Please continue to support Bishop Abrams and help her to continue to be a spiritual leader to the world during this time.
